SF Bay Area Alumni Chapter Winter Events

Join PAD members from around the Bay Area this Winter at any or all of our upcoming events. 

PAD Tree Decorating for San Jose's Christmas in the Park - November 29 - 11:30 AM to 2pm

Join us on Friday, November 29 from 11:30am to 2:00pm to decorate the Phi Alpha Delta Tree for San Jose's Christmas in the Park located in the Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose. After a morning of fighting the crowds for the Black Friday sales, come get in the holiday spirit and help us decorate the PAD tree that will be up throughout the holiday season at the 34th Annual San Jose Christmas in the Park. We will go for food and beverages after our tree is decorated.

Meet at Plaza de Cesar Chavez at 11:30am. Look for the tree with the Phi Alpha Delta sign.

This event is open to all PAD law student and alumni members and their guests. 

Silicon Valley 5K Santa Run - Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3:00 PM

Put on your jingle bells and join us on Sunday, Dec. 15 in San Jose for the Silicon Valley Santa Run. This 5k run raises money for Christmas in the Park and Downtown Ice. The race starts at 3:00pm but the pre-race activities start at 1:00pm. The race ends in Christmas in the Park where you will be able to see our PAD Christmas Tree.

The cost is $40 including a Santa costume, $35 without the Santa costumer for adults or $35 for Children under 10 and includes a Santa hat.

Bring the whole family!  Register early to ensure you get a spot. Last year this event sold out a month before the race. Check out the website to register and for more information, http://santarunsv.com/

NEW DATE  - PAD Literary Club Meeting - January 27, 2014 at 7pm

Our second meeting will be on Thursday, January 27, 2014. We'll be meeting at 7:00pm at the Franklin Street Cafe located at 1053 El Camino Real in Redwood City. They serve breakfast ALL day, who wouldn't want to go back to that place! It is also easily accessible by CalTrain. 

Our book for this meeting is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. 

East Bay Winery Tour - January 25, 2014 at 1:30pm

Join us for some wine tasting in Oakland on Saturday, January 25 at 1:30 pm. We will be visiting both Dashe Cellars and JC Cellars. We will start with JC Cellars at 1:30pm. They are located at 55 4th Street, Oakland, CA 94607. Tastings are $5 per person at JC Cellars and $10 per person at Dasche Cellars. We will taste 5-6 wines at each winery and receive a winery tour at Dashe Cellars.

This event is open to all PAD law student and alumni members and their guests who are 21 and over.

2nd Annual PAD in Paso Robles Wine Weekend - February 7-9, 2014

Save the date for the SF Bay Area Alumni Chapter Paso Robles Wine Weekend. Our 2014 event will be held February 7-9 in beautiful Paso Robles, CA. We have set aside a block of rooms at the Paso Robles Inn located right downtown.

PAD Dirksen Chapter Cocktail Social - Friday, October 18

The Dirksen Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta will be hosting it's Second Cocktail Social on Friday, Oct. 18 at 83 Proof located at 83 1st Street, San Francisco. Join area PAD law student and alumni members at this fun event. The festivities will start at 5:00pm.

Tcho Chocolate Factory Tour - Sunday, Oct. 20 at 12:00 Noon

Join the SF Bay PAD Alumni Chapter for a tour of the TCHO chocolate factory in San Francisco! We've reserved a private tour, and we can have up to 29 people in our group.

The cost will be $10 per person. If you'd like to attend, please RSVP to Kaitlin Litzau at kaitlin.janusz@gmail.com. The $10 can be sent to Kaitlin Litzau before or at the event!! Any money in excess of the $100 cost will be put towards a donation to the PAD tree for Christmas in the Park and the PAD endowment fund!


The Tcho factory is located at 17 Pier, San Francisco, California 94111.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour so we can all get signed in!

PAD Literary Society's 1st Meeting - November 14 at 7pm - Franklin Street Caffe in Redwood City

Join our 1st PAD Literary Society meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Franklin Street Caffe (1053 El Camino Real, Redwood City). We are reading "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson. Pick up or download your copy now and get reading! 

We will meet at 7pm at the Franklin Street Caffe in Redwood City for drinks, food and literary sharing.

CANCELED - 2nd Annual Paso Robles Wine Weekend - Feb. 7-9, 2013

We have decided to cancel this year's Paso Robles Weekend. 

Save the date for the SF Bay Area Alumni Chapter Paso Robles Wine Weekend. Our 2014 event will be held February 7-9 in beautiful Paso Robles, CA. We have set aside a block of rooms at the Paso Robles Inn located right downtown. Our rate will be $143 + tax on Friday and $161 + tax on Saturday for a king or 2 doubles. Reservations can be made by calling 805-322-7013. Be sure to mention that you are with Phi Alpha Delta to get the block rate. The inn will hold our room block until Sunday, January 12. After that time our room rates increase to $159 + tax on Friday and $179 + tax on Saturday.

We had a great turn out last year. Members from TN, NY, CT, NJ and IL joined members from the Bay Area and Southern CA for this fun event.

Schedule
Friday, Feb 7 - Arrive. Visit Downtown Wineries and casual dinner for those who arrive earlier in the day.
Saturday, Feb. 8 - Wine Line Tour of Paso Robles Wineries, Picnic Lunch at a winery and Dinner
Sunday, Feb. 9 - Depart. or more wineries for those who want to stick around a bit before heading home.

Costs
Last year the Wine Line was $68.95 pp. That included at 15% gratuity. It should be about the same this year. I am in the process of confirming with them now.

Dinners will be at local restaurants. I will post links to the menu when I confirm reservations.

Picnic lunch will be $10 pp.

PAD Soccer and Flag Football Teams for Fall

Interested in playing Co-ed recreation soccer with some fellow PAD members? We are putting together a team of all skill levels to play soccer on Sunday evenings in San Jose.

Is coed flag football more your speed? We are also forming a team to play flag football on Tuesday evenings in San Jose.

Soccer is $79 pp and starts Sunday, Sept.8 (registration ends Aug. 27)
Flag Football is $76 pp and starts Tuesday, Aug. 27. (registration ends Aug. 15)

PAD Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Bark For Life - Aug. 3

Join us for the PAD Pooches team fundraiser and Yappy Hour at the Sports Basement at 1590 Bryant St in San Francisco on Saturday, August 3 from 5pm-7pm.

Our team is called PAD Pooches. Look on the white board at Sports Basement for our location.

All attendees will receive 10% off their Sports Basement purchases and 10% of the proceeds will be donated on the team's behalf to the American Cancer Society. There will be food and beverages and raffle prizes. You can win a $50 gift certificate to purchase PAD wear from Spirit Recognition. Everyone is welcome. The Sports Basement on Bryant is dog-friendly so bring your favorite four-legged friends!

PAD Alumni Chapter Happy Hour - Friday, June 14 - San Pedro Market, San Jose

Join area PAD members for happy hour at San Pedro Market in San Jose on Friday June 14 starting at 5:30pm till ???. Enjoy the warm San Jose evening on the patio while chatting with PAD members and listening to live music. San Pedro Market is very family and dog friendly so feel free to bring your kids and dogs.

Join PAD at the American Cancer Society Bark For Life San Francisco - Aug 24 - Golden Gate Park

PAD Members - Join our American Cancer Bark For Life team, Phi Alpha Delta Pooches, and help us raise money to fight cancer, http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/BFLCY13CA?team_id=1344152&pg=team&fr_id=47945. The Bark is a noncompetitve walk being held on Aug. 24 at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park. No dog is required to participate. Help us meet our team goal of raising over $1500. Several area PAD alumni members are on the planning committee for this event. Our esteemed District Justice Addy Bailey has already signed up.
